As the chef and owner of Taj Cuisine, Abul Monsur has competed at the highest level with many Asian restaurants, both local and national. Abul is proud to have won a number of restaurant and Curry Chef Awards, bringing that winning experimentation to diners at his Indian restaurant.

Talented Chef

Coming from a family with a long history in catering, Abul grew up with cooking. His mother was an excellent cook, and having learned much from her, he still uses classic recipes from his childhood in his kitchen today.
 

Recognised for Excellence in Indian Subcontinental Cuisine

A background of training with expert chefs from India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan helped Abul land the title of Medway Curry Chef of the Year. All Asian restaurants in Medway were invited to enter the competition at the first round stage. Entrants were visited by Medway Council environmental health officials, and the top four chefs who emerged with the highest standards of hygiene competed in the final.

Eight judges had the difficult task of deciding which chef had produced the best dish, marking their appearance, aroma, texture and taste. Abul said upon winning, ‘I feel both happy and proud to have won, but everybody is a winner’.
